Course Description

Animal PsychAromatica aims to support animal wellbeing, calm the mind (psyche) and offer aromatics to promote natural self-healing and prevent dis-ease. The APA Certificate Online Intensive prepares you to work professionally with animals and their people and launch your animal wellness business. It teaches you safe use of essential oils, based on the science of zoopharmacognosy, as well as the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine for a truly holistic overview. We also cover the anatomy and physiology of stress, how it affects the animals that live with us, and how to reduce it through understanding a species’ natural needs. APA nurtures body, mind, and soul to create true well-being for all creatures with nature’s guidance and a deep understanding of the power of healing intention. You will be learning with a supportive group of fellow students as Nayana shares her decades of experience through ‘live’ lessons, that inspire you to connect with plant medicine and our animal friends in a deep and meaningful way.

Lesson 3: 23rd April 22 – The 5 Element Theory

The 5 Element theory is part of Chinese Medicine. It helps us understand the underlying imbalance that leads to symptom of disease. It also gives us an insight into any animal’s character, individual needs, and which remedies, diet and training will best suit them.

Lesson 4: 24th April 22 – Applied Zoopharmacognosy, Self-Selection in Action

Now you know the basic tools let’s learn how to use them. You will learn a simple system so you can choose a range of aromatics best suited to your animal’s problem and then offer for him to select. You will learn how to recognise the basic responses of different species and how to offer the botanicals safely.

You will work together to build a shortlist for one of your animals and practice offering at home.

Lesson 5: 14th May 22 – Topicals, How to Make Clays and Gels

When and how to use topical application in the APA system. In this lesson Nayana will show you how to make a gel and a clay for topical application and how to macerate herbs. You will learn when to use which, and the basics of product formulation.

Lesson 6: 15th May 22 – Stress and its Significance in Animal Wellness

Stress is the major cause of all illness and behaviour problems. Reducing stress is a basic tenet of the APA system. In this lesson you will learn about the physiological affects of stress, and recognise the stresses of a domestic environment. Then, we discuss the natural needs of a species and how to apply this to reduce stress.

Nutrition – A major stress

Like our modern diet, most animals live on food which is not well suited to them. We will learn how best to feed herbivores and carnivores. We will also include the Chinese ‘feed for health’ system, and see how to feed each element.

Recorded Supplemental Lesson: Pendulum Dowsing

Recorded video, introducing dowsing, what it is and how to use a pendulum.

Lesson 9: 2nd July 22 – The Meridian Balance Assessment

The meridian balance assessment allows you to understand the root of any problem and select the best aromatics to offer the animal to help him/her rebalance. You can also check which nutrition is good or not good. This is a core tool in the APA system, based on TCM, Kinesiology and dowsing. It allows you to connect directly with an animal on a physical, mental, energetic level.

Lesson 10: 3rd July 22 – Meridian Balance Assessment Part 2

  • English is not my first language is that a problem? You need to understand conversational English and have some reading skills. But we have multi-national student base, with a great range of languages and you can submit assignments in the language of your choice. If you are concerned, talk to Nayana.
  • What’s the difference between this course and the “on demand” version? The basic content is all the same. This version has the added advantage of direct interaction with Nayana and other students. Which works best for you depends mostly on your time commitments and how you prefer to learn. The online course helps you keep focussed and moving forward. The “on demand” version offers more flexibility.
  • Can I pay the full amount in one payment?  Yes, you can pay in full by bank transfer in Euros only. It is €1,999. Contact Nayana to make arrangements.
  • Can I stretch payments over a longer time period? We are happy to work with you to find a solution that fits, but you won’t receive your certificate until all payments are made.
  • I have already enrolled in APA1, can I get a discount? Probably, but it depends on how much of APA1 you have already completed and if there is space on the course. Contact Nayana.
  • Can I get insurance to work professionally with this course? Yes, depending on your country of residence.
  • I only want to work with cats/dogs/horses/guinea pigs, is this course still relevant? Yes, it’s quite normal for students to have a species specific interest. What you learn on the course applies to all breeds, but if you have a specific interest this will be taken into consideration.
  • Why are GBP and Euro prices the same? Because it costs us more to process the pounds post Brexit. You can always choose to pay us in Euro by switching the currency at checkout.
